Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, this position supports the Office of Human Resources by ensuring organizational effectiveness and efficiency within the Authority. The Human Resources Clerk aids as needed to support the human resources workflow to include support and administrative and technical functions associated with employment programs. The incumbent is responsible for the processing of employee files and keeping them meticulously organized.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs receptionist duties exhibiting customer service excellence.
• Conducts and coordinates employee file maintenance and audit of personnel records.
• Checks and orders required supplies for CAT corporate office.
• Provides clerical assistance for Human Resources staff. Review and process new hire information an personnel actions, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Complete HR compliance checklist for all newly hired employees as well communicate with departments regarding any discrepancies and follow-up to ensure accuracy.
• Perform daily maintenance and update transactions for all employees. Transactions include but are not limited to pay adjustments, re-classifications, transfers, vacation payouts and promotions.
• Assists and works with Benefits & Recruitment Coordinators on employee recruitment and retention, open enrollment, benefits programs, STD/LTD and FMLA.
• Responds to questions from employees on employment, benefits, payroll, etc.
• Create weekly, monthly, new hire, termination, and ad hoc reporting.
• Performs with excellence other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Minimum one (1) year of Human Resources experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before
groups of employees, customers or the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to correctly input information into Microsoft Excel.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
